Epsom Allsorts
Hogsmill 5 Race for Ladies
An overcast day, the first for a few years, greeted the ladies lining up for the annual Hogsmill 5 ladies race on Sunday 9th May 2010. Medals were already being adorned by the children participating in the children’s races earlier that morning. A few of the previous race winners lined up at the start and on the newly revealed course, excitement mounted as to who would take the crown.
We only had to wait 31 minutes 38 seconds to find out as Anna Sharpe of Woking AC stormed across the line closely followed by last years runner up local lady Phyllis Flynn of the Stragglers. Pippa Major, last year’s winner was third in 33.17. First Allsort home (and twelfth overall in 36.22) was Lillias Griffiths. Successfully defending her title timing her last 200m perfectly by kicking off the back straight to overtake Fiona Lyall who finished 3 seconds behind.
Overall there were 184 finishers. Many congratulations go to the Allsorts beginners group who successfully completed their first race. A special well done goes to Zoe Hocking who guided the beginners round and honourably took the last place spot.

Barcelona
It has been the want of the Allsorts to explore the world while pursuing their marathon goals. This year was no exception. The Barcelona trip was amazing this year with Allsorts participating in the breakfast run and the marathon. Despite a troubled training schedule including lots of unexpected snow as we suffered the worst winter in 30 years, all managed to get round. Some in excellent PB’s. We also managed to have a thoroughly good weekend in the process.
And guess what greeted us on the morning after the almost perfect marathon conditions of the day before? Snow!
