Epsom Allsorts
Hogsmill 5 is a huge success.
The Epsom Allsorts Hogsmill Five mile race for ladies was held on Sunday 8th May 2011. You can download the results here.
This year, a particularly wet and windy night brought fears for a wash out that fortunately never materialised. The sun dance worked and after a few showers early morning, the sun came out and threatened to make the temperature almost too hot to run in. Medals were adorned by the children participating in the children’s races earlier that morning when only one previous race winner lined up at the start with the main field. This year was an open book for the honours.
Following the same course as last year, the warm and slippy conditions (due to the rain) and lack of competition at the sharp end saw last years second place Phyllis Flynn of the Stragglers win in a time of 33.36, two minutes slower than 2010. A steller performance from Allsorts second claim Lilly Griffiths saw her improve 10 places on last year to come in second, fellow Allsort Delaney Dawson wasn’t too far behind for third place in 38.24 despite having to pull out of the London marathon late last month with an injury.
Overall there were 138 finishers. Many congratulations go to the runners who used the Hogsmill 5 as their first ever race. To read more about the Hogsmill 5, click here.
