Allsorts Assist in Race for Life

Race for life is back and we’re calling for Epsom Allsorts to volunteer again this year to help run it.

The event will take place on Epsom Downs on 28 June 2009 at 11am and so far more than 2,000 women have signed up to complete the 5k course with about 500 signing up for the bigger challenge of running 10k.

There are still places left for any other woman who may want to challenge themselves and raise sponsorship for a good cause - last  year’s event raised £441,293.

The challenge for us is helping to make sure it all goes smoothly and it would be great if you had some time to spare to help set up in themorning, marshal, help at the drinks station or hand out flyers.

Members of the club get a lot out of running and it’s great to be part of something that encourages other local women to pull on a pair of trainers and have a go while raising thousands for a really worthwhile cause.

Jemma Molloy, spokesperson for Cancer Research UK, told the committee at the last meeting: ‘So much work goes on behind the scenes to organize a run like this.  We had such good feedback from people last year, they really enjoyed it.  I just want to say a massive thanks to the Epsom Allsort volunteers who worked so hard last year to help us and who will be back to help us again this year.  Without the support of running clubs like the Allsorts, running Race for Life would be much harder to organize and much less money would be made for charity.”
