Epsom Allsorts Running Club
ABOUT US TRAINING SOCIAL MEMBERSHIP & BEGINNERS HOGSMILL MEMBERS ONLY

Welcome

Welcome to the website of Epsom Allsorts Ladies Running Club.  Epsom Allsorts is a friendly women-only club catering for runners of all abilities.  Going strong since 1986, the club attracts members from Epsom and the surrounding area.  We warmly welcome all new members.

Our members currently range from 18 to 80 plus with varying running ambitions. From tortoises to racing snakes, some members race regularly, others rarely; primarily we run because we enjoy it. Whilst we may not always finish with honours, we often have age group winners and at local races still often manage to field the largest single club turnout; our green vests are well known.

We meet throughout the week in locations around Epsom and Ewell.  Details are in the training page.  Generally, the shortest distance we run is about three miles so you do need to be able to cover this distance, at whatever pace, before joining us.

We organise beginners’ groups during the year.  These ten week programmes are designed to introduce complete newcomers to the joys of running with the goal of being able to run three miles by the end of the ten weeks.

We hope that from the website you’ll find information on the club from the running side to the social side, how to join and get involved, our weekly schedule of training, information about running events as well as our own local ladies-only race, the Hogsmill 5 on Sunday 9th May 2010.

If you can’t find the information you’re looking for on here then please contact us either by using the link provided or by sending an e-mail to enquiries@epsomallsorts.org.uk.

Club History

Epsom Allsorts started in 1986, when a local lady enjoyed running a 10k race in Nottingham and wanted to continue.  She persevered on her own but found it hard going, so decided to see if other women from the area would be interested in forming a running group.

She put out some flyers and was amazed at the response at the inaugral meeting at the Organ Inn (now JT’s) in April 1987.  On 13th September that year, fifty seven Allsorts made up 4.5% of the field at the 10k Women’s Own/Nike race in Hyde Park, still one of the biggest turnouts from a single club.

Most of the women who attended the inaugral meeting were complete beginners who came from all sorts of different backgrounds, with all sorts of different abilities who wanted to start running in a supportive, motivated group and enjoy the company of other like-minded women.  So, Epsom Allsorts Ladies Running Club was born and still runs today on that original basic premise.

Kit

Wearing the Epsom Allsorts club kit has a number of advantages, not least that members are easily recognisable to other members and supporters to cheer out at races or out on runs.

From vests, to tee-shirts, sweatshirts to rainwear and every other sartorial possibility in between we have club branded kit that we hope members will wear with pride.

Please contact Debbie Camp if you wish to buy club kit.  Debbie can be contacted through the ‘Contact Us’ link and any message will be relayed.

Some Epsom Allsort kit is also stocked at local specialist running shop ‘Run to Live’, 200 Barnett Wood Lane, Ashtead, KT212DB.  Owned by Allsort Nicky Donbavand, the shop also offers well know brands in a warm friendly environment with a specialist knowledge, video gait analysis and a bra fitting service.  Check out the website at www.runtolive.co.uk or contact them on 0845 263 8801 or e-mail info@runtolive.co.uk.
